DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Course Introduction
This programme is designed to develop practical skills across a range of personnel activities and to ensure that participants have an understanding of modern HR theory and practice. It is aimed at people who have been given, or who are about to be given, responsibility for areas of HRM in their own organisations. It is also suitable for others that wish to progress into a career in HRM.

Schedule: 1 evening per week 6.15-9.30pm
Duration: Offered twice yearly - in October, and early in the New Year (either January, February or March)
- October 1 year part-time
- February 13 weeks intensive plus 4 Saturday morning workshops
Course Aims & Objectives
The course provides an overview of the main HRM theories in order to provide a conceptual and practical basis for student learning. It develops on that learning by examining the main techniques involved in managing Human Resources. It also encourages students to draw on knowledge from their own experience to develop a clear understanding and practical working knowledge of Human Resource Management.
On successful completion of the course students will be able to understand the benefits of effective human resource strategies. They will have a theoretical framework for the development and evaluation of HRM concepts and principles and a thorough familiarity with the operational details of HRM.
Course Content
The Course examines the following areas:
- Business Law
- Business Management & Administration
- Human Resource Development
- International Business Communications
These subjects represent a broad coverage of the most significant areas in HRM and are designed to encourage students to draw on learning from their own experiences and theoretical views. Although the course is based on theoretical research, it is essentially a process based and practical course, which relies greatly on student participation.
Students wishing to study employee relations, training and development should enquire about the ICM Advanced Diploma in HRM.
Assessment
Examinations are held at the end of the academic year in June. On successful completion of examinations students will be awarded the ICM Diploma in Human Resource Management.
